WHAT'S NEW
Installation at Bank of America Tower in Miami

Bank of America Tower at International Place, Miami's signature building widely recognized for its changing palette of exterior lighting schemes that illuminate the skyline, will permanently exhibit a work of art by Alan Maltz.

The artwork, titled "Florida... A Natural Inspiration," is a 12' x 10' thematic collection of 184 images from Alan's portfolio. The installation is designed to reflect the beauty, mystique and natural wonders of the unique, diverse state of Florida and is available in several formats. Check it out at www.alanmaltz.com/distinction.

A wine and cheese reception marking the unveiling took place at the Downtown Miami location on July 30. Each firm in attendance received a complementary copy of Alan's book, "Florida ... Beyond the Blue Horizon." Alan was on hand at the event to exhibit additional pieces of art, autograph copies of his books and conduct media interviews. A portion of the proceeds from the sales of Alan's artwork was donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. You can view articles about the event in Coral Living, Miami Today, South Florida Business Journal and The Miami Herald.

AROUND THE WORLD
Canson Infinity Partnership

Alan has teamed up with Canson, worldwide leader in Fine Art paper production, to promote the company's new range of inkjet Fine Art and photo papers called Canson Infinity. Alan is one of only three high-profile artists selected to develop, test and represent the new range of papers.

"We loved Alan's work the first time we saw it," said Heidi Vincent, Canson International Product Manager. "We seemed to have the same philosophy about quality and precision. His expertise and recommendations were indispensable in finalizing our papers."

Since the partnership began, Alan's work has been displayed at a variety of trade shows around the world, including Paperworld in Frankfurt, Germany, in February; Canson Infinity's official launch in the United States at NAMTA in Reno, Nev., in May; and Photokina in Cologne, Germany, in September.

"I am honored Canson selected me for this partnership," Alan said. "I believe our mutual efforts in striving for the utmost in artistry and quality will set a new industry standard for media used in Digital Fine Art printing."

Alan's image "Free Spirit" is featured on all Canson Infinity's packaging. A collection of his work also appears on the sales brochures and website, along with his biography, thoughts about the new papers and details of upcoming events, exhibits and awards received.

The partnership was announced in Wide-Format Imaging, among others.

CHARITABLE WORK
Poster Helps Save Turtles

The wait is over. "First Impressions," the new poster featuring Alan's image of a loggerhead hatchling crawling across the sand, is now available from Turtle Time, Inc. The release corresponds with loggerhead sea turtle hatching season, which ended Oct. 31.

The poster was created as a new approach to educating the public about the plight of endangered and threatened marine turtles and was featured in The (Fort Myers) News-Press on Oct. 25. The goal was to use art as a medium for environmental education and awareness. The project was made possible by a grant from West Coast Inland Navigation District and artistic and professional contributions from Alan.

To receive a poster, contact Turtle Time at (239) 481-5566 or [email protected]. Donations are welcomed and can be sent to: P.O. Box 2621, Fort Myers Beach, FL 33932. All proceeds benefit Turtle Time, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the recovery and continued survival of marine turtles. For more information, visit www.turtletime.org. A limited number of posters are available.

MEDIA SPOTLIGHT
Don't Miss the Bus!

You've always known you could find Alan's images around the world in hotels, airports, hospitals, private residences and businesses. But now you should look to the highways, as well. A 39-foot RV representing some of Alan's beautiful images of Fort Myers, Sanibel and Captiva is currently traveling to events around Florida as an ambassador for the two islands.

The rig will travel to as many as 20 events around the state in the next year, with a stop at the Alan S. Maltz Gallery in Key West in January. Other stops include NASCAR at Homestead-Miami Speedway in November and Winterfest Boat Parade in Ft. Lauderdale in December.

The bus is an outreach effort of the Sanibel-Captiva Islands Chamber of Commerce and will be stocked with brochures about the vacation destination and its sponsors. Be sure to stop by and say hello if it's in your neighborhood.
